BAADER Opens Production Facility in Asia: Malaysia Marks Milestone in Global Expansion

• It is BAADER’s first production site in Asia with ambitions to expand its role within the global network

Today, BAADER inaugurated its first production facility in Asia: BAADER Food Systems Asia in Shah Alam, Malaysia. The new site strengthens BAADER’s commitment to the region by enhancing customer proximity, fostering innovation, and supporting local economic growth.

“This facility represents more than a new production site – it is a long-term commitment to the region,” said Honorary Consul Petra Baader, CEO of BAADER Global SE. “With rising demand for safe and sustainable proteins, we want to support our partners across Asia by offering cutting-edge processing and digital solutions – made in Malaysia, by Malaysians.”

The event was officiated by the Right Honorable Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari, Chief Minister of Selangor, who welcomed the investment as “a high-impact partnership that aligns with Selangor’s vision of becoming a centre for advanced manufacturing and sustainable growth.”

Marcel Franz, CEO of BAADER Asia, emphasized: “This facility is designed to grow – not just in square metres but in knowledge, capabilities, and contribution. It will serve as a launchpad for Malaysian ingenuity and technological leadership in food processing.”

The ceremony was attended by prominent guests including German Deputy Ambassador Ulrike Wolf, MIDA CEO Datuk Sikh Shamsul Ibrahim, and partners from industry and government. A traditional ribbon-cutting, cultural performances, and a guided tour of the plant rounded off the day.

The new site will focus on sub-assembly and local sourcing initially, with ambitions to expand its role within BAADER’s global network. It complements the company's long-standing presence in Singapore and Beijing.

As global protein demand is set to rise by over 50 percent by 2050, BAADER’s presence in Malaysia positions it to meet this challenge by providing sustainable, high-performance processing systems for fish, poultry, and further processing.
