Since its founding in December 1999, Íslandssaga Fish Processing has been a cornerstone of Iceland’s seafood industry. Based in a small coastal community, the company has spent over 25 years delivering premium-quality cod, haddock, and catfish products. Today, Íslandssaga is looking ahead — investing in new technology to improve operations while continuing its long-standing commitment to the community.
To meet the demands of a competitive and evolving market, Íslandssaga recently made significant upgrades to its processing line, including the installation of the BAADER 189 Pro filleting machine and the IS-028s heading machine.
These machines are part of a broader strategy to modernize production, improve efficiency, and maintain the high standards customers expect.
We used BAADER machines from the very beginning and for us it was never really a question in what company to invest. We saw the BAADER 189 Pro in 2022 on an exhibition and I said right away: I want this machine
The main thing we’re looking for when investing in new equipment is improved yield and better working conditions for our team. And when it comes to the new filleting machine, we’re clearly seeing the results — we monitor yield closely, and the performance has been consistent and strong.
Beyond improving output, Íslandssaga places a strong focus on workplace safety and usability. The BAADER 189 Pro features an open, user-friendly design that simplifies cleaning and maintenance.
One of the main features of the new machinery is its ability to connect to remote service systems. BAADER’s technicians can now access the equipment online, offering real-time diagnostics and support. This capability minimizes downtime and ensures faster response times, helping the Íslandssaga team maintain smooth operations.
With technology playing a greater role in seafood processing, it is even more important to allow easy digital machine control, setting and recipe management. The computer-controlled interface of the BAADER 189 Pro is enabling staff to manage settings and monitor performance. It’s a machine designed not only for precision, but for the modern workforce.
Íslandssaga Fish Processing continues to evolve — not just to remain competitive, but to lead in responsible growth. With smart investments in advanced equipment, the company is improving yield, enhancing working conditions, and ensuring long-term benefits for both its business and the community it serves.
