Interview with Nils Rabe about the North Atlantic Seafood Forum – his Presentations and the Value of this Format in itself

“The North Atlantic Seafood Forum (NASF) brings together a lot of different players from various levels in the respective organizations. Hardly anywhere else can you find so much experience and interest in one room”, says Nils Rabe, our Global Sales Director Fish before travelling to Bergen, where he is scheduled to speak twice this year. We had the opportunity to ask him about his sessions and the NASF itself in advance.

Nils, as Global Sales Director at BAADER, you will once again be speaking at the North Atlantic Seafood Forum (NASF) this year. You will be giving a keynote speech entitled ‘Leading European Salmon Processors on Growth’. Can you reveal a few key points from your presentation?

Giving insights into the future of salmon processing is important for the industry in order to match perspectives. We want to show what technology is out there that can make a difference.

It is great to be in one group with some of the leading European salmon processors. This gives a direct perspective on their operational experience and our technological advances.

There is another session with you on the agenda. You are part of the session entitled “NASF Tech AQUA”. What aspect will you focus on?

The NASF Tech Aqua is described as an event that brings together leading innovators in aquaculture technology, offering groundbreaking solutions for sustainable fish farming. Key industry players present cutting-edge technologies and insights designed to transform aquaculture operations worldwide.

I will focus on emerging trends in seafood processing. That means I will respond to the key question many operators are asking right now: how do we achieve stable, high- quality output while raw material variability, cost pressure, and sustainability requirements increase? I’ll highlight three core topics: Responsibility, with regulatory and consumer driven requirements for animal welfare. Secondly, I’ll address versatility of product forms and how to achieve maximum raw material utilization. Last but absolutely not least, modularization as one answer to changes in supply is going to be a point I want to talk about.

What do you value most about the NASF?

The North Atlantic Seafood Forum brings together a lot of different players from various levels in the respective organizations. Hardly anywhere else can you find so much experience and interest in one room. For us, that means having various discussions on different levels: informative, technical, or strategic.

And receiving information from the entire industry, farmers, processors, and distributors in such a compact format is a huge benefit, as well.
